WATER - STOP DESCRIPTION

WATER-STOP is an impermeable geotextile membrane, very thin and elastic. It consists of several layers, a waterproof membrane in the middle made of 2 plastic film layers (EVAC), and a veil of non-woven polyester and polypropylene fibres on each face.

It responds to an innovative concept in the way of sub-cladding finish waterproofing of floors and walls due to the fibrous faces integrated into the waterproof membrane. The fibre on both faces facilitates its adhesion to the substratum with C2 cement glue stick and the subsequent tiling or flooring finish using the same cement glue.

WATER - STOP CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES

The waterproofing solution is less expensive. Although other membrane types may be considered less expensive, taking into account all the material and waterproofing works, WATER-STOP greatly reduces costs:

With decreased consumption of additional materials and labour, a decreased structural load, decreased thickness problems in the solution and decreased execution time.

Equipped with fibres that provide a high mechanical grip with the adhesives, such as type C2 cement glue.

This facilitates its adhesion to the substratum as well as to the cladding finish, resulting in cohesion and firmness without the need for a compression layer insert in the flooring and facilitating its use on walls.

It does not contain plasticizers and there are no chemical incompatibilities with materials used in construction.

It does not deteriorate nor does it become degraded on contact with cement and other materials. Thus, the insertion of separate layers is not necessary, and it can be adhered directly to the substratum.

It bridges fissures and allows minor movements.

Although WATER-STOP becomes a solid system with the substratum and the cladding finish, the elasticity of the inner waterproof membrane combined with the elasticity of the fibre

provides a decoupling effect that allows each element to have separate minor movements such as expansion - contraction movements.

Very light and very thin.

WATER-STOP weighs 10 times less and is 5 times thinner than other waterproofing membranes, it is very easy to work with and rolls with more square metres and but less volume and weight are handled with ease.

It is far more flexible than most waterproofing membranes.

With WATER-STOP, resolving the difficult areas of the installation, such as nooks and corners, floor-wall joints, or in the instalment of the membrane in other elements of the construction site, etc.

Very easy to install.

To waterproof with WATER-STOP, there is no need to use products and tools that need special precautions and there is no need to apply several coats with a downtime delay between the coats. The membrane is applied using C2 cement glue and a notched trowel. There is no need to use a torch or hazardous or toxic solvents.

A reliable solution.

The WATER-STOP membrane was developed with specific benefits in mind, taking into account the regulatory requirements of the corresponding certificates. Our product is available certified with the Manufacturer's Warranty and backed by an Insurance Policy.

WATER - STOP USES AND APPLICATIONS

TO PROTECT FROM DAMAGE CAUSED BY MOISTURE INFILTRATION.

The sub-cladding finish, waterproofing the floors and walls, screed or tiling, in humid interior or exterior areas:

TILED SHOWERS, SPECIAL BATHROOMS, TERRACES, BALCONIES, INNER PATIOS, GALLERIES, WINDOW SILLS, VEHICLE WASH STATIONS, SWIMMING POOL DECKS, PLANTERS, FOUNTAINS, HUMID AREAS, SHOWERS, KITCHENS, LAUNDRY ROOMS, ETC.

IN PRIVATE HOMES OR IN PUBLIC FACILITIES: HOSPITALS, HOTELS, NURSING HOMES, SCHOOLS, SPORTS CENTRES, PUBLIC SWIMMING POOLS, GYMS, SPAS, ETC.…

The best solution for the waterproof restoration of terraces:

WATER-STOP allows the use of finishes with a minimum thickness because it avoids the use of several layers and is very thin.

When the waterproofing of terraces and balconies needs to be restored, because of the occurrence of leaks causing stains, odours, and deterioration due to aging common to other types of membranes, the main challenge is usually the minimum height of the home entrances.

With any other type of membrane, a new waterproofing system must be installed on top of the existing system, with a mortar layer several centimetres thick if the height allows it and the structure can support it.

If not, the flooring and subgrade needs to be demolished and removed to reveal the old membrane, replace it and reinstall the system, increasing the cost of time, labour and materials involved.

With WATER-STOP, the new waterproofing system can be installed on the existing flooring if it is in good condition, along with the new finish, without exceeding the height of the home entrance.

WATER - STOP INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Check and prepare the surface; its firmness, smoothness, cleanness and the proper slope.

Treat the unique elements, such as drain connections, etc. using a sealing mastic type W-S MASTIC or W-S BUTYL.

Present and cut the membranes to the necessary size for the flooring and its installation at 20 cm in circumference. The 34-cm wide W-S BAND makes installation easy and practical.

Mark membrane joint overlaps: the flooring overlaps shall be between 5 and 10 cm and the wall overlaps shall be between 10 and 15 cm.

Glue the membrane to the substratum with type C2 cement glue, leaving the overlaps unsealed.

Glue and seal the overlaps. To ensuring a waterproof seal, any of the following may be used; W-S BUTYL adhesive tape, W-S MASTIC sealing adhesive or waterproof and elastic cement.

Review and ensure the sealing of the overlaps and the critical points; joints, corners, etc. with the materials recommended in the previous paragraph and with the WATER-STOP accessories.

Install the screed or tiling on top of the WATER-STOP membrane using type C2 cement glue.

You will find further and detailed information in the INSTALLATION GUIDE

WATER - STOP OBSERVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

FOR ADHERING WATER-STOP TO THE SUBSTRATUM: for concrete, brick or plastering mortar, use type C2 cement glue. For other substratum, such as plaster, old ceramic and other substratum, verify that the adhesive that is selected is suitable for the substratum. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application.

FOR ADHERING THE CLADDING FINISHES WITH WATER-STOP: for ceramic floors, or similar, use type C2 cement glue. For other cladding finishes such as wood, textiles and others, use an adhesive suitable for the cladding finish and suitable for humidity. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application.

FOR ADHERING THE OVERLAP JOINTS: for small interior areas, such as tiled showers, the same type C2 cement glue used in the installation can be used.

THE WATER-STOP MEMBRANE MUST BE PROTECTED from UVA exposure. The proper sub-cladding finish installation must be ensured when installed outdoors.
